Introduction
Occasionally I am asked, or permitted to attend yard visits for a few Transport Companies that I am eternally grateful to. Whilst the vast majority of my photographs feature trucks at work, doing what they do best, I do enjoy yard visits not only do I get to see trucks stand still for once, but I also get the chance to meet some drivers and colleagues from the companies itself.
Health & Safety
As a truck driver myself I am well aware of all relevant Health & Safety Regulations within all working premises and obviously adhere to all when on site visits. I always wear Relective Hi-Visible Waistcoat, and protective footwear which I carry with me at all times.
Obviously when in yards moving vehicles are a danger, so I am careful to stay within the pedestrian walkways and remain peripheral in as much capacity as I can. I will not disturb drivers or operatives from their work for a good photo opportunity.
Confidentiality
Again as a driver myself, I appreciate all hauliers concerns regarding client confidentiality. I will at all possible times only photograph trucks when there is no risk of client confidentiality being jeopardised. An example of this would be only photographing curtainside vehicles when curtains are closed, and never photographing inside warehouses or customers premises unless requested to do so.
Copyright
All photographs taken by myself remain copyrighted to myself. However all photographs taken during Yard visits will be made available to the relevant management at the time of visit for approval if they so wish, and copies can be forwarded thereafter if wished for the Companies own use.
Thanks
Finally a big thank you from myself and my family to all the hauliers that allow me to showcase their fleets on this website. As well as being a celebration of Heavy Goods Vehicles, these photos should be seen as items of social history, as in this ever changing world, things never seem to remain the same forever!
